The Barn at Mill Rock Farms est. 2020
Our Story
A biologist and economist girl met a musician boy. They took to rescuing and rehabbing dogs and got married. She owned a professional pet sitting service for 13 years; he worked as a plumbing designer for half his life. Together they built houses, created five children, hugged every tree they could and dreamed of homesteading and living self sufficiently.
Scott “Dolby” and Leslie Miller left Nashville and daily commutes to a desk job and private schools in the rearview mirror in 2020. We relocated to our family property in amazing Rock Island, TN with dogs, cats, chickens and children in tow. This is truly a family farm with three generations wandering these verdant green hills and thick forests!
We have a passion for environmental sustainability, for ethically-raised food and livestock, for living lightly and locally. Mill Rock Farms is home and business, family and community, word and practice. Solar power, rainwater catchment, composting, rotational grazing, diversification, nutrient cycling, reducing/reusing/recycling/repurposing and soil regeneration are hallmarks here. What you won’t find are synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, antibiotics and hormones, or GMOs.
We are living our dream! We are so excited to share it with you!
